It’s always interesting for a new financial reports briefing to come out from Nintendo, as it gives a clear insight into both how the company is doing, and how well the Nintendo Switch and its games are doing. To put it briefly, they’re both doing quite well. On the software side, the two new games of 2024 via Princess Peach Showtime and Mario vs. Donkey Kong have both crossed the million units sold threshold, proving it was worth it to release both. Then, for the Switch itself, it was confirmed to have crossed 141 million units sold mark.
That means, depending on what sales numbers you believe, the system needs less than 15 million units to take over the No.1 hardware unit ever from either the Nintendo DS or the PS2. Again…it depends on what numbers you believe. It also should be noted that the Switch in the last fiscal year sold over 15 million units. So…if it can do that again, or even close to that before its successor comes out? It’ll get the top spot.
