AbleGamers representative and disabled Street Fighter Competitive Gamer Michael ‘BrolyLegs’ Begum passed away on March 19th at the age of 35.
To no surprise, BrolyLegs was well known in the FGC community not just for his unique style of playing fighting games with his face, but inspired by the adversity he had to endure with his condition – Arthrogryposis. The condition that Michael suffered from restricted his joint movement and inhibited muscle growth. This made him immobile. His book, “My Life Beyond The Floor,” talks about his hardship in life because of it.
To fans of Brolylegs and the people whose lives he touched and inspired. Please take the time to share your moments and memories of this amazing person. The family wishes to continue to share his story with the world and celebrate from now til forever this amazing man. pic.twitter.com/474GsyZaKP

This illness did not stop Brolylegs from competing at high-level professional Street Fighter tournaments. BrolyLegs’ recorded placements started from Street Fighter X Tekken with a 7th-8th placing in Texas Showdown 2013. BrolyLegs’ highest placing was at the DreamHack Dallas 2022 in Street Fighter V in his 1v1 efforts between 9th-12th after that. BrolyLegs usually mained Chun-Li. BrolyLegs last appearance was at Evo last year. BrolyLegs
I’ve heard nothing but praise for BrolyLegs from even a friend who has played against him, in Street Fighter V online. BrolyLeg’s brother had a emotional response to the loss of his brother. I’ve even stopped into BrolyLegs’ twitch stream from time to time.
The cause of death has not been revealed by the family at this time. A GoFundMe has been set up to support the family in their time of need.
