Given the “instability” around Nintendo’s gaming lineup right now, expectations were low for the Pokemon Presents that dropped today. Unfortunately, much of the presentation was what fans expected: little updates, nothing monumental. However, at the end, The Pokemon Company dropped a bombshell that no one predicted. They announced Pokemon Legends ZA, a new title that will take fans back to the Kalos region and FINALLY give some love to a certain legendary Pokemon that got the shaft before. You can check out the teaser trailer for the game below:

For those not in the loop, the “Z” in the logo is a reference to Zygarde, the third part of the Kalos legends trinity. There was supposed to be a “Pokemon Z” title for the Nintendo 3DS, but The Pokemon Company didn’t do it. Instead, they focused on making Sun and Moon so they could celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise in 2016. That meant there were many “unanswered questions” about the Kalos region and its Pokemon that left fans longing for more.
An interesting thing to note about the trailer for Pokemon Legends ZA is that they note it’ll “release simultaneously” in 2025. That’s very curious wording and likely will give rise to rumors that it’ll be released on the Nintendo Switch and its successor should the latter also come out in 2025.
