Among the interesting in-game mechanisms of Palworld, breeding can be termed as the best one. Pocketpair’s monster-taming survival-craft title recently launched in early access and has already taken over the games industry with its very simplistic and fun gameplay. If you are diving deep into the game, the breeding in Palworld is still something you may find a little overwhelming at the first go. And this article should load you up with all the basics and the intricate details of what to do and what not to do.
Prerequisites
Many of the players will avoid breeding looking at the sheer amount of materials gathering needed. Yes, it is not very simple at the start, but once you are on the roll, things will be very easy. The main things required for breeding in Palworld are
- Breeding Farm
- One male pal and one female pal
- Cake
Once you hit level 19, you can unlock the Breeding Farm from your technology tree and it will cost you two technology points. This Breeding Farm is quite large in size to be sure that you have that big area open at your base. Next is that male and female pal which you can check from your palbox. The other most important (and the hardest) of breeding is preparing the cake.
Preparing a cake can be a tedious job as the list of requirements is not small. To prepare a cake you will need the following
- Flour (5 pieces) – Build a wheat plantation and then harvest them and put them into a mill to make flour
- Red Berry (8 pieces) – Collect Red Berries, or produce them from Berry Plantation, or place a Caprity on your ranch (goat with a strawberry on its back) for auto production
- Egg (8 pieces) – Place a Chipiki (Chicken) on your ranch
- Milk (7 pieces) – Place a Mozzarina (Cow) on your ranch
- Honey (2 pieces) – Place a Beegrade (Bees) on your ranch
Once you collect all of them and prepare the cake in a cooking pot, collect it and place it in the box attached to the Breeding Farm. Then, the male and female pals were put inside the Breeding Farm. If you get closer to the breeding area, you will notice the indicators of both the pals are inside, a circle that gives you an idea of how much time it should take for the egg to arrive, and a line saying ‘Love is blossoming between the two Pals’.
One thing to note is that when you plan to do back-to-back breeding, sometimes the pals may just run away. You do not need to panic, just lift them and bring them back to the Breeding Farm, and it should be working again. Also, make sure you always have the cake to produce the egg at the end.
Once you have the egg, collect it and place it in an Egg Incubator. If you don’t have it yet, you can unlock it from your ancient technology tree. You can have a campfire beside the Egg Incubator for a faster egg-hatching time.
Why Breeding Is Important In Palworld
Breeding in Palworld is very exciting and interesting at the same time. Not to mention, it is also very important to pass on the passive skills to the offspring. In cases of pals with ‘Legend’ passive, breeding is the only way to pass this trait to the new pals. Through breeding, you can mix and match the best and the most desired passive traits onto the new child pal.
Not only that breeding also creates some really interesting fusion (or unique) pals such as Relaxorus Lux (requires Relaxorus and Sparkit), Mossanda Lux (requires Mossanda and Grizzbolt). And for the special pals such as Jetragon, breeding with the same species is the only way to have more of them.
I hope this guide clarifies all your doubts about how to breed in Palworld. You can also check out the beginner’s guide and faster leveling guide if you are getting started in this game.
Palworld is now available on Xbox and PC (Steam) as an Early Access title and is currently unavailable for PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 as the platform does not support Early Access games.
