Poecktpair’s monster-taming game Palworld is globally available now in early access. And in no surprise, the game has been flying high because of its similarity to the Pokemon franchise. With pretty straightforward gameplay, there are a lot of areas where a newbie may get confused in-game when they first start their journey in Palworld. To your rescue, this article will sum up all the basics you need to know to have a smooth start in Palworld.
1. Share Your World With Friends If Possible
In Palworld, a major challenge is you do not carry your progress when you just randomly join a world. So you need to decide in which world you want to play. You can either start your own (and be the host) or join friends. But remember, your progress in that world, stays in that world. Now, coming to why you should share a world with friends, it is because everything becomes easier, and the game becomes more fun when played with friends.
For a single-player mode, you may be overwhelmed by the sheer number of tasks you’d need to manage until you automate everything through pals. But with friends, you can discuss, build, explore, and do boss fights together. It just gives a much better value for a game like Palworld.
2. Catch As Many Pals As Possible
When you start your journey, you may wonder what to do now. The answer is very simple: start catching as many pals as possible. Not only will these pals help you in your work, but they also give you EXP points, which are very useful for faster level-up. The higher level you are, the stronger pals you will be able to catch.
3. Understand Pal Types And Their Abilities
Once you start capturing as many Pals as possible, it is time for you to do a little research on them. You can refer to the Paldeck given inside the game, or you can just check them individually. Some pals share more than one type, but the main ones are Grass, Fire, Water, ice, Dragon, Dark, Ground, Electric, and Neutral. These types are also very much interlinked as each one of them has specialties and can counter each other. Refer to the image given below.
Each of the pals also has passive abilities at random. So you need to keep catching the random pals of the same until you find the one with a nice passive ability.
4. Necessities Before Luxury
While the resources are abundant, there may be a few resources that will not have a decent supply always. Depending on the location of your base, your resources flow will work. On my first base, I’m always out of Ingots because the Ores are not very nearby. But lucky you, I’m sharing this lifesaving tip with you. So make sure you focus on necessities before luxuries.
5. Resource Flow Is Important
There’s a good amount of grind to level up in Palworld. And to guide you on that, this resource flow tip is very important. Try to build the Lumber camp, Berry field, and Mines as early as possible. This will help you to automate the resource flow. And if you have any Ores nearby, that would be useful for getting them to produce Ingots. After you hit level 20, almost everything will require ingots, and there will be no factory to automate the production process. So, build your base by looking ahead to the future.
6. Skill Point Allocation Will Affect On Progress
As you level up in Palworld, you will get skill points to boost your character stats. Just focus on what is important to you. I’d suggest that you drop your skill points in HP, Stamina, and Weight at first, then anything after that, depending on what you prefer.
HP is very important for staying alive in battle. Otherwise, the wild pals will oneshot you. For Stamina, it is useful for the exploration and working part and you’ll understand how important it is once you get a little familiar with the game. Weight is important for carrying stuff. You will not be able to farm properly if your carrying capacity is low.
7. Pals with Mouting Abilities for Exploration
Now coming to the exploration part, you must always have a flying mount with you. Nitewing can be a good early option until you catch or find better-suited ones for you. These flying mounts will not only help you in exploration, but you can also go anywhere you want, including the top of the hills where, in many cases, you’ll find Pal eggs.
You will also see areas with snow and volcanoes. You will need special dresses to enter those areas. In my first instance, I died because of the excessive heat the volcano area had. Later I crafted the required dress and explored the area. The same applies to the snowy area. So make sure you have the right dresses before you plan to explore. For the normal plains, you do not need anything in specific, but if you do not wear anything your character will feel cold at night.
8. Traders For Extras
When exploring the massive map, you will often come across traders standing or sitting near a fireplace. You can approach them and sell some of your extra Pal you have or the extra items you have collected throughout your exploration. On the flip side, you can also buy Pals or even nice blueprints from these traders. These blueprints are particularly useful as they are rare to find.
That is pretty much everything you will need to know to have a decent start in Palworld. Palworld is now available on Xbox and PC (Steam) as an Early Access title. The game is currently not available for the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 as the platform does not support Early Access games.
