If you’ve listened to the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast over the last year or so, my cohost Skull Kid Scott and I have been adamant that Nintendo needs to port Xenoblade Chronicles X over to the Nintendo Switch. They’ve ported just about every other big game from the Wii U to the Switch, so why not this one? The game may be the “black sheep” of the RPG series due to it being VERY different from the other three entries, but that doesn’t mean it was a bad game. Far from it, it was really fun!
So imagine my surprise when a certain “insider” claimed that the game was about to get a “full-on remake” and be on the Nintendo Switch Successor. This comes from Zippo, whom I can easily say is not the most accurate with his “insider information,” but he has been right in the past, so it’s possible he’s right with this one. Here’s what he said in his latest “update” on things:
“I’m hearing from sources familiar with the situation that MonolithSoft is developing a full remake of their underrated Wii U title, Xenoblade Chronicles X. Released in 2015, this title came at a time where the Wii U was already unfortunately winding down after two consecutive years of poor sales, so many missed out on the game, including myself. From all accounts, the game is excellent, and is in actuality, the first Nintendo game in the modern day to go open world, even before Breath of the Wild. Monolith has numerous titles in development for Nintendo’s next system, and this is just scratching the surface of that.”
Again, his info is hit or miss. But if he is right? That’s pretty cool, and I’ll happily welcome the RPG to the next Nintendo console…whatever it is.
