Square Enix has been busy preparing for its next expansion and an upcoming patch for Final Fantasy XIV, as revealed during the FFXIV Tokyo Fan Fest. The event unveiled that the highly anticipated FFXVI Patch 6.55 is set to release on January 16, 2024. However, those eagerly awaiting the release date for the upcoming expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, will need to exercise a bit more patience.
While Yoshi-P discussed the forthcoming expansion, he also introduced a new ranged DPS class called the Pictomancer. This caster class, alongside the previously revealed DPS class, Viper, adds an intriguing dynamic. The Pictomancer distinguishes itself by employing a paintbrush to create magical images, using them both for attacking enemies and buffing allies.
As per Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), the director of Final Fantasy XIV, the expansion will not adhere to Square Enix’s schedule but will follow the timeline of Final Fantasy XIV. This implies that we might have to wait until Summer 2024 (hopefully) for the expansion’s release.
While awaiting a confirmed release date, fans can enjoy the recently unveiled trailer for Final Fantasy XIV: Drawntrail, which is notably longer than the one released in July 2023.
Final Fantasy XIV, an online MMO featuring crossplay for the PS4, PS5, PC, and Mac, will soon be available on the Xbox Series X|S, with its release slated for Spring 2024. The game’s expansion to the Xbox platform was announced during the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023 in Las Vegas, marking a significant milestone in its journey.
