Shaheen – the Desert Falcon, returns with his second appearance in the Tekken franchise for the next game. For those who have played the demo, you’ve probably seen some of his kit in action in the Ghost Battle. Shaheen returns to Tekken 8 in order to avenge his friend’s death at the hands of G-Corp – primarily Kazuya Mishima.

The close-quarter combat Private Military dude takes his hits seriously. In fact, Shaheen sports a new aerial trick feint that allows anything to come after it. Even into a crouching move. The Heat Smash screams Sean Matsuda with a few aerial kicks nearly as cool as the Hurricane Kick we’ve seen from Street Fighter. The jump-on-back to neck break seems to come in pretty handy. Shaheen seems to enjoy surfing on his opponents a lot this time. His Tekken 8 Rage Art practically embodies that.
Shaheen was created due to the Middle East’s love for fighting games, including Tekken. With Street Fighter and Capcom / Dimps taking on a similar challenge at the time, for newcomer Rashid for Street Fighter V, it seemed to fit, according to Source Gaming). Looking at some of his moves, it clearly feels as though the two Middle Eastern combatants share some of the same traits. Shaheen has a bit of a tornado move, whereas Rashid seems to have this as his total package. Moreover, Shaheen also seems to have a bit of an intro where he does a parkour flip similar to Rashid’s intro.
Tekken 8 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox X | S, and Steam on January 26th, 2024.
