Five-piece undercover avatar band “FZMZ” (pronounced “fathoms”) made their debut on Sunday, October 1 with “BROKEN GAMES”, the opening theme of the TV anime series “Shangri-La Frontier”.
With their world-class musicality that led “BROKEN GAMES” to surpass 3 million streams, and the exclusive article on the anime distribution service “Crunchyroll”, the band has been featured outside Japan as well, quickly attracting attention from music fans from home and abroad.
And now, FZMZ announces the remix version of “BROKEN GAMES” to be released tomorrow, Friday, December 15!
The remix was done by a British-born, California-based DJ/producer who goes by the name Kordhell! It is no exaggeration to say that he is the most important figure in the scene; he is part of the giant playlist “Phonk” that boasts over 7 million listeners on Spotify, and his song “MURDER IN MY MIND” has been streamed over 550 million times around the world.
Kordhell’s aggressive and heavy remix accentuates the rap exchanges between MAQUMA and JACK and the beauty of the hook melody, which make the song impressive and bold and introduces the new magnetism of the song.
Kordhell’s comment shows that he made his remix from an intuitive inspiration he had from FZMZ’s music, and that he knew he could create a powerful track by combining Japanese rock with phonk.
In addition, “BROKEN GAMES” is the opening theme of the TV anime series “Shangri-la Frontier”. In the phonk scene, there are many songs with underlying connections with anime and inspirations from it. This one marks a historic moment as an official crossroad of three cultures: Japanese rock, anime, and phonk. Make sure to check it out!
