This is the trailer I’ve been waiting for! Yoshimitsu has returned to Tekken 8. And, as usual, in the most elaborate costume yet. Namco does this in every Tekken game he’s a part of (Soulcalibur, too), and I’m here for it! Each costume feels more ridiculously cooler than the last( though I’m always about that cockroach skeleton look from Tekken 4. It had wings he used in the ending!).
This one is screaming Power Ranger villain at this point. The first-ever Mechanized Space Ninja finally gets his move reveal trailer for Tekken 8. And it seems as though Yoshimitsu’s got a new mission, according to the Namco Bandai site.
Yoshimitsu is an inheritor of the Manji Ninjutsu and current head of the Manji Clan, a group of chivalrous thieves active since the Sengoku period. Six months ago, Yoshimitsu accepted a request from an investor of the refugee relief project. The task was to find archives that contained information on the past doings of the Mishima Zaibatsu.
Guns vs Swords
It seems that Yoshimitsu has a bone to pick with Bryan Fury for some of his clanmates dying by his hand or gatling gun. Yoshimitsu’s blade glows sinister during Heat and gains some tremendous range. That Rage Art also screams classic samurai/ninja flicks. It’s too bad we don’t see any health bars to figure out if Yoshimitsu’s blade is life-stealing or not while in Heat.
However, there seems to be a move that the sword has, which absorbs something from the hit. His helicopter move is shown during combos here, which could stand to extend the Manji clan beatdown he’ll give. His original knee launcher is back, too. Nina’s close-range guns are also no match for Yoshimitsu’s quickness.
Yoshimitsu is a Tekken 8 base roster character, and he’ll be available on January 26th when Tekken 8 is released. Tekken 8 also has a demo tomorrow for PlayStation 5 users and December 21st for Steam and Xbox ecosystems.
