Instead of waiting on Ed Boon to come clean with his intentions of bringing around so many 80s heroes-turned-toys into Mortal Kombat, why not try the next best thing? KnockOff will seem to scratch that toys-to-fighting-men itch.
The roster seems to draw its inspiration from what already existed. Kronan has that He-Man drip. I mean, it’s already apparent with him hailing from the Lords of the Universe show. Yeah – that can’t be right. Custodian Rip is a copy of those 80s Super Giant Robot animes with his look. Lizzard could be drawing from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with his appearance. Kranor is totally a Skeletor stunt double.
The stages are ALREADY a beast! I got Toy Story vibes from this first one I was looking at—toys in a yard. Possibly put down by a toddler who probably gets that monthly re-up every so often by mommy and daddy. The game holds some standard fare, including aerial raves and high-count combo juggles. Assists seem to also be in play as Kronan summons someone who resembles the “little wizard that could” from Masters of The Universe – Orko. Unblockables are also present.
I’d love to see THESE toys come to life anytime. Maybe during History class.
Mecanimal Games is responsible for leaving these toys out. While there’s no new trailer for the game as of yet, the developer has released new gameplay footage that shows all of the aforementioned characters in action. Outside of showing off this gameplay, the only difference I can see with these trailers compared to the previous one released last month is the difference in the UI.

Sadly, KnockOff currently has no information about it yet. However, it does look hot.
