CI Games has announced that its recent title, the dark fantasy action RPG Lords of the Fallen, has surpassed one million units in just ten days, which is a milestone if you consider that the game has only been made available for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The latest Soulslike title, Lords of the Fallen, has been revealed well across all the platforms despite having several technical issues, especially on the Xbox Series X|S, and bugs. Thankfully, the developer of the game, Hexworks, has been pumping out updates constantly, especially on the PC, which at one point received two updates in one day and more recently received yet another update.
“Lords of the Fallen is the most important and ambitious game we’ve developed in our 20-year history, and the first in our new planned AAA pipeline of games in the years ahead,” said Marek Tyminski, CEO, CI Games. “To see this fresh and innovative take on the action RPG achieve one million sales in just ten days has been humbling for everybody at Hexworks and CI Games.”
“Thank you to all the Lampbearers out there who have embarked on their journeys across Mournstead, fearlessly traversing the lands of the living and the dead,” said Saul Gascon, Head of Studio at Hexworks. “We’re incredibly grateful to the passionate Lords of the Fallen community for their invaluable feedback and ongoing support. It’s their unwavering dedication that has made this success possible, and we couldn’t be prouder to share it with them.”
More recently, Hexworks, the developer behind the game, revealed its updated New Game/NG+ mode that will reintroduce vestiges that were removed prior and an update on the crossplay behind the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which wasn’t possible during launch.
I’ll admit that Lords of the Fallen has been one of my favorite games of the year, but that makes sense as I enjoy a good Soulslike. I’ve hit over 100 hours in the game, dying, exploring content, and helping others get through the game. I’m still debating if I’ll attempt to get all the achievements since I’m not much of an achievement hunter.
Still, for the game to surpass one million copies already is fantastic news, and hopefully, that means we’ll get more of Lords of the Fallen. The game could use a DLC to extend on the fantastic universe that it has built upon already.
