I can’t believe this is actually happening, but Xbox has finally announced that it will be releasing console wraps for the Xbox Series X. It’s something that fans of the console have been asking about for nearly the life of the console.
As revealed on the Xbox Twitter (X) account, Xbox has revealed three different console wraps for the console; Arctic Camo ($44.99), Mineral Camo ($44.99), and Starfield ($49.99). While the camo wraps will be available on November 10, 2023, the Starfield edition, which is likely the fan favorite, will be released on October 18, 2023. All of these Xbox Series X console wraps are currently available for preorder on the Xbox Store.
Unlike conventional skins, you have to stick to the console, and you can possibly ruin while applying them. These Xbox Series X console wraps have been designed specifically for Series X and have a custom, precision fit. According to Xbox, they are made with solid core panels that are layered with high-tech fabric finishes, the wraps are folded around your console and secured with a hook and loop enclosure. The interior of the wraps is printed with silicone designs that keep the wrap in place.
These console wraps will fit on the outside of the console and will overlap at the back of the console. They are a bit thicker than a skin, and as such, will meet with the disc eject and pairing button. Still, they look amazing.
I wonder why it took Xbox so long to get something like this to market, given that the Xbox Series X is just a rectangular box, but I’m glad they are a thing. I’ve wanted something like this for a while but was opposed to sticking a skin to the console. And yes, I’ve already opened the Starfield console wrap, since it will go along with the two controllers and the headset. Why not complete the look, right?
I wonder what other versions will be released in the future or if Xbox will have some sort of custom lab thing as they do for the controllers. I still have fond memories of the faces that we could swap and customize on the Xbox 360. I’m looking to see just how far Xbox goes with this.
