Despite the issues of Gen 9 and the loss of Ash Ketchum, make no mistake, the Pokemon franchise is firing on all cylinders right now. Between the console games, mobile games, anime, merchandise, the TCG, and more, they’re doing fine. 2022 was easily one of the best years for The Pokemon Company due to not one but two major Nintendo Switch games arriving in that calendar year. As for this year, we have “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero,” which is the two-part DLC for Gen 9 that’ll arrive eventually. But some are already looking to the future, and Pokemon Black and White is dead in their sights.
There’s a lot going on here, so we’ll break it down step-by-step. Earlier this year, some prominent Poke-leakers stated that they knew what was coming up next for the franchise and how the upcoming DLC (Specifically “The Indigo Disk) would affect things. Fast forward to last Friday, and someone felt they had “cracked the code” of the leaker’s message, and one of those leakers followed up on it:
2022: PLA (Past)
2022: SV (Present)
2024: ??? (Unova) (Future?) https://t.co/WrIJEZrjRw— Centro LEAKS (@CentroLeaks) July 14, 2023
Now, some are taking this as speculation that we’re getting Pokemon Black and White remakes, but the leaker noted in a follow-up tweet that it wouldn’t be a remake according to their sources. If that’s true, then that means we would be heading back to Unova for some reason. It’s possible we could get the next “Pokemon Legends” game in this region, but only time will tell.
It should be noted that many people are buying into this due to how Gen 9 had very FEW Gen V Pokemon within it. Plus, Unova and Paldea have ties via their “past and future influences.”
