The Australian Speedrun Marathon (ASM2023), Australia’s largest and longest-running speedrunning event, is kicking off on Wednesday 12th July and will run through to Sunday 16th July. The flagship 5-day annual marathon of the AusSpeedruns community is back in person this year and will be fundraising for Game On Cancer®.
Game On Cancer® is an initiative of Cure Cancer, an Australia-based charity dedicated entirely to funding early career cancer researchers and to date has provided over 550 research grants to young scientists with ground-breaking innovative ideas, many of who have gone on to become leaders in cancer research globally.
This year, Elgato is proud to join ASM2023 as a major partner, supporting the production of the event with its range of streaming hardware, promoting the marathon to the Elgato community, offering select Elgato products as prizes to those who donate, and donating directly to the fundraising efforts itself.
Ethan Levy, Coordinator at AusSpeedruns, said, “We here at AusSpeedruns are proud to present the Australian Speedrun Marathon 2023 which is shaping up to be the most spectacular celebration in Australian history of the fantastic speedrunning community we have. We’re equally proud to be raising vital funds for Game On Cancer® to help make this the last generation to die from cancer. We are also thankful for the assistance from Elgato this year in making this all happen, as it wouldn’t be possible without their pivotal support.”
Shane Bailey, Head of Gaming & Streaming at Cure Cancer, said, “Our team is thrilled to be working alongside the AusSpeedruns team once again, this time for ASM2023. To date, this incredible community has raised more than $40,000 to support life-saving cancer research, and having the support of Elgato as a major sponsor this year will only help us make an even bigger difference together.”
The full schedule for ASM2023 as well as details of the talent involved can be found on the AusSpeedruns website and the event can be viewed live on the AusSpeedruns Twitch channel. Donations to the fundraiser can be made on the ASM2023 Tiltify fundraising page.
ASM2023 will be held at the Adelaide Rockford (164 Hindley St, Adelaide) and tickets can be purchased either on the AusSpeedruns website or at the door for $25.
Viewers can show their support for Game On Cancer® by following on Twitter, joining the community on Discord, and finally, and most importantly, tuning into the event and donating.

About Cure Cancer Australia
Cancer kills almost 10 million men, women and children worldwide every single year and impacts countless more. The only way we can change that is through research.

We are the only Australian organisation dedicated exclusively to funding emerging researchers, creating a pipeline of future research success. Without our funding, these discoveries may never have been made.
