It’s been an exciting ride for Mortal Kombat fans, that’s for sure. First, the “Thank You” video from Netherrealm was dropped, which teased a reboot of sorts for the series. After that, more cryptic info was released, which seemingly confirmed that the Mortal Kombat series would be rebooted. So, what’s next? Now, the co-founder of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, has posted a tweet that merely says, “THIS WEEK SHOULD BE FUN.”
However, at the end of it, all is a dragon-like image, and I want to say that perhaps this is a throwback to Lui Kang’s original fatality. Another hint that it could be Lui Kang related is that the words are also in an “L” shape.
Could we be getting some more Mortal Kombat info this week? Well, if Ed Boon is to be believed, perhaps. And we all know he loves teasing the Mortal Kombat community.

We’ll have to wait and see what Ed Boon and Netherrealm have in store. But whatever it is, it’s sure to be amazing.
Update: Now, the Mortal Kombat channel is getting in on the fun with this recent tweet “Tomorrow is a new dawn.” If anything, this confirms that we’ll be getting a trailer for Mortal Kombat, tomorrow. Are you excited? I know I am.

Is Mortal Kombat being rebooted?
With Fire God Liu Kang going back in time in his ending in Mortal Kombat 11 Afterma, he is effectively creating a new timeline which would be a reboot of the series, which the clock skipping ahead to 1 tease could mean. I guess we need to go back and call this the next Mortal Kombat, as Netherrealm is definitely playing a game with our emotions, that’s for sure. When will Netherrealm finally reveal the game?
Well, seeing how seeing we’re about to move into the Summer season and there’s going to be a number of various game showcases, including Xbox and PlayStation, as well as the Summer Game Fest, it could be revealed during them. Or it could happen during the upcoming EVO 2023, the largest fighting game tournament in the world, which also happens to be taking place this upcoming August 2023. There’s also the PlayStation showcase that was just announced for May 24, 2023.
Whenever the game is revealed, and whatever it ultimately ends up being called, I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
