Jujutsu Kaisen 65 Keyboard review from Higround

Higround is a company that has produced various merchandise, thanks to its collaborations based around well-known anime such as Attack on Titan and Gundam Wing. Recently, the company partnered with Crunchyroll for its line-up of Jujutsu Kaisen keyboards and peripherals. It so happens that I was asked to provide some impressions of a keyboard based on the Jujutsu Kaisen anime.

I got lucky that we were asked about reviewing this piece of technology because the world of high-grade keyboards does interest me since I am big with PC gaming and PCs in general. I was at first confused about the naming conventions that came from their website; their Basecamp 65 keyboards and Summit 65 keyboards are the big products they push.

What is a basecamp 65 keyboard?

Let’s cut down those terms further to help understand what they are. 65 Keyboards are named that because they have 65% of the keyboard than what is usually given in mechanical keyboards. These keyboards are shorter than traditional keyboards that you are likely familiar with. The Basecamp or Summit names also make sense once you get into what they mean.

Basecamp keyboards have a small base but will still offer a small incline, which is meant to be comfortable when typing on them.

On the flip side, Summit keyboards have a larger base and a larger incline. If you are looking at both keyboards from above, you won’t tell much of a difference. However, looking at them from the side, you’ll start to understand the phrase summit.

 

What’s inside the box

Opening up the package for the first time was an awesome experience. The box holding the keyboard was a fantastic graphic from Jujutsu Kaisen and puts you in the mindset of what quality this keyboard is in. It is a high-quality keyboard, and it has some gadgets that show you just what high-quality means. The first way you know this keyboard was made with a high-quality mindset is due to the key puller, and switch puller included with the keyboard.

The keycaps are all designed to come off and are replaceable.  Some people might need that option. One big reason why is that the letters are not directly on the keys but on the sides of them.

If you are someone who needs assistance with understanding where keys are on the keyboard, you might want different keycaps. I had an easy time adapting to the location of these keys as the only big issue I had with the placements was because the keys felt smaller space than most keyboards I am used to.

The clicking sound of the keys is satisfying to the ear, and they are great when it comes to the bounce back up on the key into your finger again when you need to press the same key more than once. You can customize the RGB board underneath the keys that light up in between them. I kept my default settings as the orange glow highlights the art and makes my dark computer room more orange and bright.

The way you customize it is through the custom app for Higround. You can add static colors, you can do side-scrolling RGB or even a variety of custom patterns with how the colors sync onto the keyboard. One of my favorite variations was the raindrop mix, with a good combination of blue colors and shades.

The Jujutsu Kaisen Basecamp 65 keyboard is made from a solid material that feels high quality to the touch. It has customizable keycaps, RGB keyboard colors, a slot for a custom USB cord if you want a longer one, macro functionality for custom mapping of keys, and it is pretty light. It is a pretty decent grab for the price if you can grab one.

Though that doesn’t mean it is all good. The keyboard is smaller means it cuts off the number pad, and some of the keys on the top, such as the print screen, may not fill out the space you want them to in a keyboard drawer or mat. You also have to work on memorizing the keys if you are keeping the default keycaps that come with the Jujutsu Kaisen edition.
