Diablo 4 fans will get an early taste of its gameplay, regardless of whether they’ve preordered the game. The Diablo IV beta will occur from March 17 to 19 for anyone who pre-ordered the game, while open beta access for everyone will begin on March 24 to 26.
According to IGN, Diablo IV’s director Joe Shelby has stated that this beta won’t include a time limit and will allow players to level their characters up to level 25, which is a 1/4 of the level 100 cap. This beta is pretty beefy as it will allow players to play through the prologue, the first act, and all of the side quests available in the Fractured Peaks.
However, nothing from the beta will transfer over to the full game when it’s released. According to Joe Shelby, this ensures that everyone will have a fair playing field when the game is released.
Unlike the prior titles, Diablo 4 will feature an open world structure that contains five unique regions; Kehjistan, Scosglen, the Dry Steppes, the Fractured Peaks, and the swamplands of Hawezar. These regions will be 10 to 20 times larger than those found in Diablo 3, while World Bosses will also be found while players traverse these regions. The game will also share some world elements, such as towns that will ultimately become hubs; however, Blizzard has stressed that the game is not an MMO. As someone who’s played the last three games, and Diablo Immortal, I’m still not convinced of this design change, and I’m hoping the beta will change my mind.
Diablo 4 will be released on June 6, 2023, on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, if you’ve pre-ordered the game, you’ll get to play it sooner, on June 2, 2023.
