While Dead Space Remake has already proven to be a handful for many, there’s another mode that takes the game to a higher level; the Impossible Mode. In Impossible Mode, the game’s difficulty ramps up to hard, autosaves are disabled, enemies have more health and deal more damage, while you take more damage and get only one save slot. Lastly, if you die, you can either continue in Hard Mode, or restart the game from the beginning.
Of course, playing the impossible mode has its rewards; the deadly Foam Finger, also known as the Hand Cannon. It’s a weapon that does an insane amount of damage against anything in its way, with Issac making the gun sounds. There’s also the Burnished Suit, which comes with a red visor and looks pretty dang sexy. Both of these items are worth the challenge to the most hardcore Dead Space fans.
How to Dominate Dead Space Remake’s Impossible Mode
Now, while the wording would have you think that you can only save one time, that’s not true. In truth, you only get one save file, but you can save as often as you need to. So, don’t think you’ll only ever be able to save once, as that’s not true. It’s not the same as the dreaded Dead Space 2 impossible mode, which only gave your three saves, and then it was game over. That still gives me nightmares.
Take advantage of your save, especially when you’re about to die. If you’re about to meet your end, pause the game, and reload your last save. Remember, every other difficulty featured an auto-save that would take you closer to where you died, while the impossible mode doesn’t. You’ll need to rely on that save as if your life depended on it, because it does.
Don’t waste your time upgrading anything other than your Rig and the Plasma Cutter. While there are other weapons in the game, the plasma cutter is the most damaging weapon in your arsenal. While upgrading your Rig, we recommend focusing on HP first, then Stasis energy and duration.
If you don’t have enough nodes, make use of the money glitch using the Pulse Rifle to pad your pockets. If you don’t know it, don’t worry, as we’ll discuss this in another article.
Don’t keep any unneeded weapons in your inventory. Doing so will cause ammo for that weapon to spawn, which can take up precious inventory space. Instead, move them to your storage. Again, the Plasma Cutter is your most powerful weapon, but the Flame Thrower is useful in a pinch, and the Pulse Rifle’s secondary usage can clean rooms, as it doubles as a grenade launcher.
Make use of your surroundings. Throughout the game, you’ll find stasis and explosive canisters that can be used against enemies and will help you conserve ammo. You can also use the sharp points of enemies that have been severed off to impale them or other enemies. Use every bit you to advantage.
Lastly, turn up the gamma and brightness to give you an edge in darkened locations. Remember, if it helps keep you alive, it doesn’t matter if it looks weird.
These tips should help you get to the end of the Impossible Mode. Good Luck!
