During the reveal of Remnant II, a short trailer dropped a spoiler that the Root, the villain of Remnant from the Ashes, would be a big part of the game and that we’d be revisiting Earth. Which puzzled those who’ve completed all of the DLC for Remnant from the Ashes, myself included. Mainly because in the final DLC for the game, Subject 2923, we thought the Root was eradicated from the planet.
Well, according to the developer of both games, Gunfire Games, that isn’t the case. Seeing how Remnant II is slated for release in 2023, the Gunfire Games has been dropping information on the game, with today’s realization being the biggest. The Root still exists on Earth, which will have profound implications in the follow-up game.
The Root haven't been entirely pulled out of Earth. Now's your chance to take the fight to them. But, what impact have they had on other worlds? 🌎 pic.twitter.com/bD0SbjkaCc

If the Root is alive and well on Earth, can you imagine how the other worlds are fairing? Well, we already know how the fate of one world, Yaesha. In the reveal trailer, we’ve already seen two familiar faces. The Ravager, a boss who you can decide not to fight, and the Yaesha Guardian, ensnared by the Root in a Yaesha temple, who was supposed to be protecting the world. Both have been corrupted, and as we’ve seen in the trailer, they want to kill the player. I didn’t want to kill another doggo in a video game. I still have memories of downing Sif in the original Dark Souls.
