Global J-pop superstar HIKARU UTADA celebrates the 24th anniversary of their debut First Love with the release of their first 7-inch vinyl First Love/Hatsukoi as well as Dolby Atmos versions of “First Love (2022 Mix)” and “Hatsukoi” on Apple Music. The news follows the November release of Netflix’s new series based on Utada’s music entitled First Love, which has continued to chart in Netflix’s weekly Global Top 10 in multiple countries and regions.

Commemorating the release, Utada has debuted a special long version music video for “First Love” featuring memorable scenes from the new drama, which stars Hikari Mitsushima and Takeru Satoh – watch on Netflix’s Official YouTube channel HERE. Today’s music video will be followed by a long version of “Hatsukoi” as well, arriving on December 22.

Wrapping up a massive 2022 that saw the release of their new album BAD MODE, which was named one of Pitchfork’s Top Albums of 2022, Utada will kick off 2023 celebrating their 40th birthday with a special online event “40 Dai-Wa-Iroiro♫” on January 19, 2023. In 2003, for their twentieth birthday, Utada held one of Japan’s largest live streaming events, “20 Dai-Wa-Ikeike!” and in 2013, a VR streaming event, “30 Dai-Wa-Hodohodo.” Each event featured a talk session where Hikaru answered questions from fans as well as song performances. Staring at 9pm on January 19, 2023, 100 lucky people will be chosen to have their questions answered by Utada and will win an original “40 Dai-Wa-Iroiro♫” sweatshirt.
