The terrifying creature Stripe is now available to play as in MultiVersus. He brings along with him all manner of weapons and as an assassin, he’s very agile in the sky. Watch out for this guy as we instruct you on how to use Stripe in MultiVersus.
MultiVersus Stripe Move List
Standard attacks
The first weapon at Stripe’s disposal is his buzzsaw, which is activated with the X button (square on PlayStation). While standing on the ground, Stripe’s buzzsaw projectile will stick to floors and walls and automatically roll through them horizontally or vertically. When it hits an opponent, it causes 5% of damage.
It works similarly to how you throw a hothead in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as it continuously moves across the stage. When thrown from the air, the buzzsaw will immediately curve downwards, creating an unwieldy projectile attack. Use this attack to apply pressure to an enemy. It doesn’t have much knockback but rolling these saws one after the other is an effective strategy to fluster the opponent.
Sideways and the X button (square) will activate a combo called Nasty Swipes on the ground. It does around 13-15% of damage and is a highly effective string of attacks. They’re quick and have some decent knockback when the opponent has a high percentage. Doing this movement in the air will have Stripe swipe with both of his claws in a forward slash. This is a super effective way to get the opponent out of the way off-stage. Use it in a combo, and you’re more than likely golden.
Up and X (square) on the ground has Stripe utilizing a juggle into the air. Called All Claw’d Up, this move has Stripe kicking his legs up, driving his opponent upwards. You can use it multiple times as it’s a fast move like Mario’s fist-up in Ultimate.. Each land of the attack does around 3-5% of damage. You may want to follow this attack up with a chomp. You can do that by simply going up and X (square) in the air. The Chomp does around 5-6% of damage by itself. Try to utilize different moves as a follow-up to Stripe’s All Claw’d Up move.
One of Stripe’s best tools is the “Shh, It’s A Surprise” attack. In a quick animation, Stripe summons a CD player to the stage and then shoots it quickly causing an explosion. This has great potential as it can send an enemy flying in the air, but it only causes 5% of damage. You can then follow the attack with a chomp to finish them off. Stripe also has an effective spiking attack called Look Out Below as well.
Special Attacks
Instead of a buzz saw, Stripe uses a close-ranged sharpshooter pistol by pressing Y (triangle button on PlayStation). He can shoot three bullets at once. Each cause around 4 damage. If a target is on an enemy’s body, that means the bullets will be sent to the target, no matter where Stripe is. It’s like magic. This is a good option for enemies that are on the brink of being eliminated at the edge of the stage. The pistol will give a slight boost to clinch the win.
Side and Y (triangle) has Stripe using his rad skateboard and charges enemies with it. On impact, you can cause five damage, but if you follow it up with All Claw’d Up, you can do even more. You can also perform a kickflip at the end of the Savage Tricks move.
Stripe gets a bit more serious with his air version of sideways and Y (triangle). He releases a dangerous weapon, the chainsaw, and moves forward. This move allows Stripe to go across floors and walls but is also one of, if not, the best knockback moves Stripe has in the game. Get your foe in the right direction, and the impact will be brutal. In our test, it caused 14 damage on impact.
Up and Y (triangle) lets Stripe claw at his opponents above him. You can use this on the ground as an uppercut, and in the air, you can link this attack with a projectile buzz saw. There’s a lot of mid-air combo potential with this move.
His most peculiar and possibly effective move is the Dynamite Boom. By pressing down and Y (triangle), Stripe finds sticks of dynamite and puts them in his hand. You can detonate it at any time using down and Y, but it will inflict damage on Stripe. You can cause ignite damage on your foe with this, certainly, but similar to Link in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, you can also use the dynamite as a recovery tool. Hold the direction you want to go and detonate. It will then send you back to the stage, depending on your directional input. It’s a surprising secret weapon for those trying to knock you out off-stage.
Something else to keep in mind with Stripe is that he can leap off projectiles. For example, Stripe can mantle onto one of Bugs Bunny’s ACME rockets and live to tell the tale.
