There’s been a lot of curiosity around the upcoming Super Mario Bros Movie that is coming out next year. How would it look? How would it sound? Would it be as good as recent video game adaptation attempts like with Sonic The Hedgehog and Detective Pikachu? That last part remains to be good, but we can at least answer the first two parts. The Illumination team definitely did a good job rendering the world and the characters. Just about everyone agrees it looks beautiful.
As for the sound quality, that’s another matter. While Jack Black shines as Bowser in the brief bit we heard, Chris Pratt…sounds like Chris Pratt. Yes, we’ll give him more of a chance, but we do hear more than two words from him so we think this first impression is fair.
