Crunchyroll has announced that their Funimation brand will be increasing the price of their subscription to match that of their parent company’s. The move is seen as odd since Sony purchased Crunchyroll and decided to dissolve Funimation and merge their entire library into Crunchyroll’s streaming service. It was also supposed to grandfather Funimation users into Crunchyroll’s user database.
With this price increase, it would appear that the process to do so has not yet been completed, therefore with Funimation’s service still active and being cheaper than Crunchyroll’s, the price increase is to match that of Crunchyroll’s service.
The new prices are set to take effect on October 5, 2022.
The new prices are as follows:
Premium:
WAS: $5.99/month
NOW: $7.99/month
Premium Plus:
WAS: $7.99/month
NOW: $9.99/month
