While Taz’s spin attack has been significantly nerfed since his Closed Alpha iteration, this Looney Tune is still a strong option for MultiVersus players around the world. From turning others into chickens to accessible moves for newer players, Taz is a strong character to play as in MultiVersus.
Standard moves
Taz’s first attack performed with just the square button (X on Xbox) has Taz gulping down some soup of some kind and then belching out a yellow projectile. It’s relatively short range but if you can hit it with just a button tap, it will cause 5% of damage. It also dishes out two points of tasty, which, when filled to 16 points will have the opponent turn into a chicken. If you hold down the square (X) button, the belch will be stronger, adding six points of tasty and a slightly weaker 3-4% of damage. When activated in the air, this move will have Taz spin, making this attack hit either side of the Tazmanian Tiger.
One of Taz’s strongest standard moves is when he compiles a sandwich together called a Slam-Wich. A tap of the square button (X) while holding up will cause 5% of damage. However, if you manage to charge the attack, it will cause double the amount with a great knockback effect as well. What makes this move unique is that you can move Taz left and right while holding down the attack, so you can position the Slam-Wich perfectly as a foe is falling down towards you.
Moving sideways and pressing square (X) has Taz combo salt and vinegar jars at the opponent with a frightful spin at the end. It causes 12% of damage overall and has a decent knockback effect. Like Taz’s belch, this move also heightens the tasty meter; this time by four points. Try not to use it regularly as it may become predictable for your opponent. While using this in the air, Taz chomps at the player with an extremely short-range attack. It may hard to hit, but it’s a good off-stage move to take out opponents with as it provides a pretty good knockback. It can be held for greater effect as well. The damage is pretty minuscule, however.
Down and square (X) has Taz leap into the air and land on the ground. When hit with a tap of the button, it causes 4% of damage. If it’s held, it deals out 6%. Like Taz’s other standard moves, it has a good knockback effect, and if you want to catch an opponent off guard, this is one of Taz’s best techniques to do that.
Taz does have a spiking move at his disposal, but it’s not as accurate as a move like Bugs’ hammer. Going down and pressing square (X) while in the air has Taz spinning his tail. If you manage to hit a foe with the bottom tip of the whirlwind, the opponent will be spiked. You can also use it as a temporary spinning move while on the ground. Do a short hop and then perform this Beyblade-like spinning move for a quick 5-8% of damage.
Special moves
Taz can gobble up his opponents after opening his mouth wide with the triangle button (Y on Xbox). It’s not as easy as Kirby’s sucking move from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The hit area is slimmer and it will be harder to get foes into Taz’s mouth, especially while they’re moving. If you do manage to get someone inside Taz’s mouth, you can chew them to 2% of damage per chew. The yellow bar above Taz’s head indicates how long the opponent will remain in there. We recommend going for two or three bites and then spitting them out for an additional 5% of damage. You can choose to spit them out left, right, or upwards; perhaps, you can communicate with your teammate for a follow up attack.
It may have been nerfed, but Taz’s sideways Taz-nado (sideways and triangle/Y) can still cause a lot of damage. It hits multiple times and if the opponent is targeted for the whole duration, it will cause 11% of damage. It still has a decent knockback effect and can easily take out someone at 90% off stage. Try not to over-rely on this move, however. It can be interrupted easily during the beginning of the animation from a kick by Shaggy and others.
Down and triangle (Y) has Taz burp out an eaten apple, dishing out a cheeky 3% of damage. It’s also an easy way to inflict tasty with two points. We recommend following it up with a Taz-nado for an additional four points of tasty. You can also eat projectiles with the standard triangle (Y attack), and then you can spit it back out with down and triangle (Y). +
After the Taz-nado getting nerfed in a recent update, the best knockout move from the Looney Tune is his Dogpile. It grows in size as you hold down up and triangle (Y), the attack will grow in size. The finish is exceptionally strong with an effective knockback and 13% of damage. The Dogpile has a very long cooldown time, so make sure you use it when your foes are high up in their percentages.
Effective Perks for Taz
- I Gotta Get In There! – If you’re playing the default 2v2 mode, this perk is super powerful. When your teammate joins the dogpile, this powerful attack is buffed with more damage, knockback, and armor. Oh, and if that’s not enough, it also lasts longer.
- Percussive Punch Power – Most of Taz’s attacks are horizontal, so an additional 5% of damage while performing the moves will help you.
- Lumpy Space Punch – To keep up with the pain train that is Taz, his melee attacks in the air are buffed by 5% extra damage.
- Tasmanian Trigonometry – Are you upset about the Taz-nado’s nerfs? Something that will help compensate is this perk, which boosts your base knockback influence by a massive 15%. If your teammate has this perk as well, it goes up by 25%.
