It’s time for EVO 2022, and with the world’s biggest fighting game tournament taking place, there’s a mass of fighting game news being released. Arc System Works has reconfirmed that they fully plan to add crossplay for Guilty Gear Strive across the PlayStation 4/5 and PC platforms. The developer has also stated it is committed to improving the input delay on the PlayStation 5, which is double that of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Arc System Works has also stated it will work on reducing connection time for initiating GGST matches on the PC.
An upcoming beta test will take place in Fall 2022 to kick off the crossplay initiative. However, there’s no date on when that will occur. During that time, a new character will also be released for Guilty Gear Strive.
Following that, in Winter 2022, the game will see a new balance patch, which I feel the game sorely needs. No word on who’s getting nerfed or buffed as of yet. Then in 2023, we’ll see two more additional characters and stages introduced into GGST. As for who those characters are, they aren’t sharing any information as of yet.
Arc System Works is still fully committed to Guilty Gear Strive, despite having its hands in a few other fighting games. One of those games being DNF Duel, which despite a number of issues, has taken the fighting game scene by storm. The last couple of updates added three new characters; Testament, Baiken, and Jacko. This also introduced a number of character changes, including a balancing patch.
