What’s up, doc? MultiVersus’ Bugs Bunny is a classic cartoon character that has stayed with us for decades, almost a century. With all that history, he dishes out all sorts of moves and references toward his opponents. Here’s how to get to grips with this Looney toon and kick butt on the battlefield in MultiVersus.
Moveset and best strategies
Standard attacks
Before stepping into the feet of Bugs Bunny, we recommend trying out all of the toon’s moves in The Lab, a training mode for all of the characters. Once you’ve arrived on the blank stage, figure out how each move feels and get to grips with how they all work.
The first attack to mention is the hammer. By pressing square (or X on Xbox), you can either tap it or hold the button to make a firmer strike. Holding it will cause more knockback, making it perfect for taking out opponents with a high percentage. If possible, you’ll want to combo this after using a kiss, which will stun your opponent; we’ll go further into that move later.
Next, going up and then pressing square (X) will give you a kicking motion that sends foes flying into the air. It’s a great way to counter rushing foes. You can follow this move up by jumping in the air and swinging Bugs’ bat upwards. The kick can be strengthened by holding the button as well.
Going right and then pressing square (X) will make Bugs make a flurry of punches, similar to how boxers mess around with their training equipment. This is a wide-range attack that can sucker your opponent in. You can follow this up quickly with an upwards kick from earlier for a nice 10-15% damage output. Then, if you want to eliminate a foe, the bat can work as a third strike in the combo.
The last of the standard attacks is a pie in the face. Go down and then press or hold the square button (X). Holding it will make the pie’s trajectory more straight. However, you’re less likely to catch an opponent off guard with it if you hold it down. If the pie hits, however, it will cause a slowing effect, making the foe easier to strike.
One unique quirk that Bugs has is that he can look through an infamous ACME box. If you hold down and have the animation finish, he’ll pull out an item you can use.
Special attacks
Bugs’ special attacks would certainly fit into the cartoon he derives from. The first special attack, which can be activated with the triangle button (or Y on Xbox), summons a metal safe from the sky. Its impact when fell on a rival can cause up to 10 damage depending on where it hits them. However, it becomes even more dangerous when Bugs or a teammate kicks it. The safe is pushed forward, creating more force on an opponent. This is a good way to knock them out of the arena if they don’t expect it.
Going up and pressing triangle (Y) will unleash a rocket upwards. When it comes into contact, it will launch the opponent to the side of the stage. However, if you miss, there’s a still a chance the rocket will hit as what comes up must come down. Going left or right and pressing triangle (Y) while in the air will cause the rocket to go sideways. Try to find a way to incorporate the rocket into an air combo. Possibly use Bunny’s upwards kick attack and link it up with the rocket.
If you go right or left with triangle (Y) on the ground, Bugs will blow a kiss. If the yellow heart hits a foe, they’ll be stunned. This is your chance to hit a powerful move on them like Bugs’ hammer or upwards kick. You should easily be able to knock out an opponent if performed properly, and they have a high percentage.
Lastly, Bugs can burrow into the ground with a down motion and triangle (Y). He’ll then relaunch himself and bombastically come out of the ground, causing 17 damage. The holes will be left there, and this is when you can utilize the safe to a further extent. You see, the safe can go inside and then be lifted off the ground in the other hole, causing extensive damage and a large knockback effect. Try to utilize this when possible, as this can be an unexpected attack.
Bugs Bunny’s Most Effective Perks
As you level up Bugs, you’ll unlock more effective perks as you play MultiVersus. Once you’ve reached the max level, this is what you should equip to the character.
- Lingering Love, which will leave a stunning heart on the stage after a kiss is blown by Bugs. Having a more permanent heart will give you more options to land a finishing blow once they’re stunned.
- Make It Rain, Dog – This perk will increase your ranged attack speed by 20%. Your rockets and pies will be even more effective when this is equipped.
- Up, Up, and A Slay – If you like to send opponents up in the air with your rockets, burrowing attacks, and bat swings, these attacks will gain 5% damage with this perk.
- Tasmanian Trigonometry – Knocking back opponents is Bugs’ main priority. With this in mind, this perk will give a 15% bonus to the knockback effect.
