Earlier today, 505 Games, hosted its first-ever digital showcase. During this event, the publisher showed off several titles such as the action RPG known as Stray Blade, the indie survival and crafting game Among the Trolls, and the recently released Eiyuden Chronicles: Rising (check out our review). As the event was ending, 505 Games revealed a hidden title called Miasma Chronicles, and it was this game that has me intrigued the most.
While we didn’t get to see much of Miasma Chronicles, what we did see was interesting. Here, we saw two characters, who look to be attempting to rescue their mother. One appears to be wielding some sort of glove that looks to be powerful and looks to play a major part of the game.
In the not-too-distant future. America has been torn apart by a savage force known only as the ‘Miasma’. Meet Elvis, a young man brought to the mining town of Sedentary as a baby. Left by his mother in the care of a robotic older ‘brother’ and given a mysterious glove with which he can control the Miasma. Join the brothers on a quest across a post-apocalyptic wasteland to find the answers they crave. Answers which may change the course of human history forever.
Interestingly enough, Miasma Chronicles hails from the developer of Mutant Year Zero, The Bearded Ladies, and is being called a “tactical adventure” game. The setting looks Cyberpunk and I’m digging the perspective of how the gameplay will take place. Still, I’m trying to wrap my head around why the two characters refer to themselves as brothers – especially since one of them is a robot.
Miasma Chronicles is in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), with no mention of the PS4 or Xbox One.
