We all know why most of us tune into the Super Bowl every year is for commercials. I still remember when my parents (R.I.P) made a big deal about the Crystal Pepsi commercial — those were the days. Sure, some of us might have a favorite team we’re rooting for, but for many of us, we just have to see what companies have come up to pique our attention during the event.
This year, with Super Bowl 2022, we got to see some interesting trailers for upcoming movies, and there are a few that I have my eyes on. While some of the commercials had me chuckle a few times.
Alright, time to see which TV spots caught my eye and my attention this year.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Our first full-length look, for a trailer, into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and damn, was it worth the wait. Dr. Strange has some explaining to do, as he’s doing stuff he shouldn’t be. And either thanks to him, Loki, Wanda, and him, or all of them, the multiverse is busted. Hey, Kang told us something was coming, and he was right — as always.
In this trailer, we got to see more than enough to make us head to the theaters. Such as Zombie versions of Scarlet Which and Dr. Strange, some variant of either Ms. Marvel, but I think it’s Monica Rambeau, the Illuminati — complete with a new Tony Stark and is that Professor X played by Patrick Stewart? Ok, yeah, Marvel, you got me. I had been avoiding movie theaters, but I think…. no, I know, I need to see this one.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness heads to theaters on May 6, 2022, and that’s too far away.
The Adam Project
I’ve heard about this movie a while ago via a leak and had been following everything I could about it. Ryan Reynolds has grown on me throughout the years, and he’s shown that he can do a serious movie when he needs to. And it looks like we’re going to get both a serious, SCI-FI tale that features time travel and going back to meet your past self. Oh, and to possibly save the world.
The Adam Project debuts on Netflix on March 11, 2022.
NOPE
When I first saw this trailer, I wasn’t sure what to think. Jordan Peele has a thing for horror movies, but with a captivating story to go along with it. I’m still not sure what’s going on, but I love the name of the movie. Especially since it’s one of those things, you do when you’re playing a game, and you come across something that makes you go “NOPE” and then turn right back around.
NOPE heads to theaters on July 22, 2022.
Moon Knight
While we didn’t get to see any new footage from the upcoming Disney+ Moon Knight, it was nice to see the trailer on TV. And to have my wife ask me who was that, and ended up going through the history of Moon Knight.
Moon Knight debuts on Disney+ on March 30, 2022.
Amazon’s Alexa is listening
We all know that there are fears when it comes to virtual personal assistants. People feel that they’re eavesdropping on people and recording everything you say (and that’s partially true). Some think they can read your minds as if. Oh, thanks, Alexa, for letting me know I need to get milk… wtf! Well, it seems Amazon decided to make a commercial out of those fears, and while it may seem horrifying, it comes across as pretty damned hilarious.
I also no longer have an Alexa connected in my house now.
Rocket Mortgage & Rocket Homes

The only reason I found this commercial enjoyable was because it showed He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’s Castle Greyskull. I’m not a Barbie guy by any stretch of the imagination, but I enjoyed this commercial. Or maybe it was because Barbie was stressed. After all, her dream home was about to participate in a bidding war. Thank goodness I’m not shopping for a house anymore.
Flamin’ Hot Doritos and Cheetos
We had already seen teases of this commercial on TV, but with the Superbowl, we got to see the full-length commercial. Who knew that dropping bags of Flamin’ Hot Doritos and Cheetos and having animals eating them would cause them to bust out with Salt-N-Pepa’s classic melody, “Push It”? I wonder what my dogs would do if they ate the very same things?
Jim Carrey’s Cable Guy Returns
https://youtu.be/Z6HbCcSKJGQ
We all have seen Cable Guy at one point in our lives…. and if you haven’t, why not? We see our favorite cable guy being seen as obsolete in this Verizon commercial, thanks to Verizon’s new internet device. And well, the results are classic Jim Carrey.
