Today, Techland has announced that it will be offering free next-gen upgrades for anyone who purchases the PS4 version of Dying Light 2 Stay Human. This also applies for the Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S additions, as free upgrades will be handled via Xbox’s Smart Delivery. Now, potential owners won’t have to worry about dropping down extra money when they get that shiny console upgrade.
Techland also released some updated co-op game news for all platforms. Co-op cross-play between the Steam and Epic Games Store versions has been confirmed. This was something we’ve asked about before, but now it’s nice to see that this made it in. During the co-op sessions, players will be able to keep all items that acquire and progress. While all decision-making will be handled via a vote, however, the host of the session has the final say.
Sadly, cross-play between the PlayStation and Xbox, regardless of generation, will not be supported at launch. That’s not to say that this won’t happen eventually, as Techland has planned additions and improvements planned for at least five years. Fingers crossed that cross-play between the PlayStation and Xbox is one of those additions or improvements.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human will be released on February 4th, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Expect our review prior to the release of the game and impressions leading up to that.
