Today Twitter users were in their feed as usual when an interesting tweet by Herman Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, popped up. He was announcing that Valkyrie Entertainment was acquired by Sony to join the PlayStation Studios. You can check out at his tweet here.
If you are wondering who this company is, I was right there with you when this was announced. Valkyrie Entertainment is a game company that partners with a lot of various developing companies like Santa Monica Studios and Riot Games to help them with creating their worlds. In particular, they helped craft the final realm and various other places in God of War. They also helped create assets in League of Legends, Valorant, Halo Infinite, and the Forza Motorsport series. Those and other games can be seen as assets they have helped create in the graphic below.
It is common in the video game industry to outsource asset making, or even character models to other game developing companies. As long as the game is put together polished and working when the game is supposed to be released, many games go through various development teams’ hands.
Welcome to the PlayStation family, Valkyrie Entertainment!
