November is here and with it comes a slew of games for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and even more for those with VR headsets. Subscribers can download Knockout City, First Class Trouble, and Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. And to celebrate the 5th anniversary of PS VR, the lineup also includes VR titles The Persistence, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and Until You Fall.
So let’s take a look.
Knockout City
In EA’s Knockout City, dodgeball becomes an extreme sport. Roam around the aforementioned city of knockouts and team up with friends to take down rival crews. Your weapon? Dodgeballs of course. The game offers a lot of customization, from player character styles to the ball itself. Don’t have a ball? BE the ball, with the ability to curl up and have a teammate pick you up and throw you. In our impressions of the closed beta, we said that “the 3 vs. 3 format works, the maps are just the right size, and enough is going on to ensure the matches aren’t boring.”
First Class Trouble
First Class Trouble is a social deduction game, in the vein of such titles as Among Us and The Ship. Six players take on roles of passengers on board a luxury space ship, with four playing as humans and two as robots, trying to stop the people from shutting down the rogue A.I. The game also has a good deal of customization and variety of ways for the robots to take down their prey, using chandeliers, wiring, and even Venus fly traps to dispatch others.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning
So what exactly does a “re-reckoning” entail? Well, THQ Nordic brought one about with the remaster of 2012 RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, adding re- to the title. The remaster features updated graphics and refined gameplay, but the same fantasy world with five distinct regions and four playable races with diverse class trees. The original game became a cult classic but the developer faced myriad financial issues, so the remaster has given it a second life, or rather, a re-reckoning.
The Persistence
Next up we have our first VR title for this month, The Persistence. The game by Firesprite and Frabrik Games offers a stealth horror rogue-lite experience. Taking place in the future, you play as a clone on board a spaceship overrun by mutants. Your mission? Repair the ship in time to avoid getting sucked into a black hole.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners offers up an alternative survival horror VR experience. In this game by Skydance Interactive and Skybound Entertainment, you take on the role of a survivor scavenging zombie-infested New Orleans. The game offers a crafting system, various weapons and zombie types, as well as random events in which players encounter other survivors, some friendly, some not-so-friendly.
Until You Fall
Our last PS Plus VR title is Until You Fall, an arcade-inspired sword fighting game by Schell Games. As you hack-and-slash your way through the fantasy world, you can gather aether and get stronger to fight bigger and more powerful magical foes. And you can do it all to the beat of a synth wave soundtrack.
And that finishes up all the titles for our November PS Plus offerings. Even though we didn’t get any horror games last month, it looks like you can celebrate Halloween for a little longer for two horror VR titles. On top of that we’ve got some good variety of single-player and multi-player titles to choose from. PlayStation Plus subscribers can download Knockout City, First Class Trouble, and Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning from now until December 6th, according to the PlayStation Blog. And for those VR titles, you have all the way until January 3rd to get The Persistence, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and Until You Fall.
