It would seem that Fromsoftware’s Elden Ring is on track to meet its January 2022 release date. According to the Australian rating board, the game has been given a MA 15+ classification. Before this, the title was also rated in Korea. If that’s not good news, I don’t know what is.
For those who may be wondering just where the MA 15+ lands on the rating board. It’s one step away from being R18+, which is a restricted rating. If you’re wondering what this means for Elden Ring, it doesn’t mean that much as games such as Dark Souls III and Sekiro also received. I wouldn’t worry about not being able to play it, and you’ll see it on shelves, both physically and digitally when it gets released.
Fans of Elden Ring, those people (including myself) have been waiting for more Elden Ring news; this is good news. For a game to be rated or classified, it has to be played first. Meaning that Elden Ring is further along than Fromsoftware wants us to believe, or it’s pretty damned close to being completed.
For me, I’ve been waiting for Elden Ring to be released ever since it was announced. I even made the mistake of assuming the game would be released in 2020 and added it to my “Most Anticipated Games of 2020.” When it comes to Fromsoftware games, I go crazy for them. I mean, I’m the guy who purchased the Japanese version of Dark Souls III because the North American release date was to “TDB.” Every other game, I’ve played the heck out of. I’m still a bit ashamed of nearly 900 hours of Dark Souls III on the PC. That’s not even counting how many times I’ve played it on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4.
Of course, nothing is concrete, and until Fromsofrware comes out and tells us the game has gone gold, anything can happen. Fingers crossed until then; hopefully, when January 2022 gets here, we’ll all be playing Fromsoftware’s eagerly-awaited game.
Elden Ring will be released on January 21st, 2022, and will be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
