Square Enix is absolutely known for its RPGs, and they’ve gone and done many great ones over the years that encompass all manners of the genre. A fan-favorite one is by and large the Bravely Default series which has had three main titles so far. The third (game) of which was released on Nintendo Switch earlier this year.
Bravely Default II (read our review here!) did rather well on the system, and now it’s gearing up to go on PC soon, so many wonder if Square Enix is aiming to go and continue the franchise. The answer is “yes” and “in good time”. Because according to Tomoya Asano of Square Enix, as he noted in Famitsu, they’re up for it…it’s just going to take a while to get there…
“Bravely Default II was well-received by fans and as a result, we’re hoping to continue the series as we feel we can pull it off once again. With that said, we’re still in the planning phase, and I suspect development will take another 3-4 years, so we’d appreciate if fans could bear with us.”
Given the gaps between the games before, it’s not surprising that they’re wanting to take their time with this. Plus, they have other projects that are coming out, such as Project Triangle Strategy next year.
