The Consumer Electronics Show is the next organization to require proof of vaccination.
The Consumer Electronics Show is the largest electronic show that countless people look forward to. We’re talking new phones, arcade cabinets, TVs, and all sorts of enjoyable toys and more; I live for this event. Sadly due to COVID-19, this year’s CES event was canceled. We weren’t sure what the organization would do in light of COVID-19 when it comes to 2022. As we’ve seen, the new Delta Variant of COVID-19 is just as bad as the original strain and most were assuming the event would be canceled. Instead, they’ve taken a cue from other events and now require proof of vaccination to enter the event.
Here’s what CES had to say about the recent change:
We’re excited to reconvene the technology industry in Las Vegas and experience the magic of CES® with you. Over 1000 companies including major brands and start-ups have already committed to be in Las Vegas. CES 2022 will feature the latest tech innovations, including space tech, food tech and NFTs. Audiences will hear from industry leaders during live keynotes, including General Motors Chair and CEO Mary Barra and T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert.
Safety, security and health are a priority at CES. For CES 2022, we will require all in-person attendees to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Based on today’s science, we understand vaccines offer us the best hope for stopping the spread of this virus. While we are still more than five months from CES 2022, we are sharing this information early to give you time to plan.
CES 2022 will follow state and local guidelines and recommendations by the CDC for masking and other protocols. Masks are currently required in all public indoor spaces in Las Vegas. We will regularly update CES.tech/healthprotocols with the latest information.
So there you have it. If you want to access CES 2022, you’ll need to be vaccinated or you won’t be able to attend the event. I say that this was the best choice and cuts right to the chase. Of course, some either don’t want to be vaccinated or don’t believe in it. While I have my personal feelings about this – I’m glad organizations such as CES can see that having thousands of people in a closed environment isn’t a good idea during this pandemic we’re in.
Of course, if you don’t plan on getting vaccinated, CES 2022 will also be held digitally.
CES 2022 will take place from January 3rd, 2022, to January 4th, 2022.
