‘Y: The Last Man’ Trailer Shows the Horrific Fall of Mankind

By Sara Roncero-MenendezAugust 5, 2021

What would happen if every man on Earth suddenly died? Chaos, anarchy, a lot of anger and confusion, worries about reproduce and the survival of the species. But don’t worry, FX’s latest show doesn’t follow that story. There is one man still left, hence the show’s title of Y: The Last Man.

Based on the comic by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y: The Last Man follows Yorick Brown, the last man alive after a strange event kills every person with a Y chromosome. As those left behind become desperate to either get the world back as it was or totally reshape it into something new, Yorick must traverse the dangerous new world in hopes of help humanity get back on its feet.

This show has been a long time coming, and many thought the day would never arrive where we would see the trailer. In 2019, original show runners Aida Mashaka Croal and Michael Green left the project after FX didn’t like their vision for the project. They were replaced by Eliza Clark, who was on the writing staff for Rubicon, and the show has proceeded ever since.

The cast includes Ben Schnetzer as Yorick Brown, Diane Lane as Yorick’s mom President Jennifer Brown, Ashley Romans as Agent 355 / Peace, Diana Bang as Dr. Allison Mann, Olivia Thirlby as Yorick’s sister Hero Brown, Juliana Canfield as Yorick’s love interest Beth DeVille, and Amber Tamblyn as Kimberly Cunningham.

Y: The Last Man Season 1 premieres on FC on September 13, 2021.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
