If you’re like me, you’re awaiting the day that Xbox’s Halo Infinite finally gets released. Not too long ago, we were told that we could expect to see Halo Infinite being released during the Holiday of 2021. It’s not an exact release date, which I’m sure many have been looking forward to. However, during a recent Dropped Frames Show, Phil Spencer made an appearance and talked about the Halo Infinite release date.
According to Phil Spencer, there is no exact release date as of yet. They’re being cautious on providing a date, as they don’t want to announce a specific date and then having to move it. They’ll have better clarity over the Summer and will be deciding on a concrete release date.
It sounds like they want to release Halo Infinite within a period where there are no other big or major game releases. Which would make sense; why release a game around the same time as other games that would take any hype away from it. Having EA release Titanfall 2 at the same time as Battlefield One comes to mind. For those who remember that mess, the Battlefield One launch overshadowed and, in my opinion, led to Titanfall 2 not being as popular as it could have been. The only two big first-person shooters that are releasing this year, besides Halo Infinite, are Battlefield 2042 and the next Call of Duty. Of the two, Battlefield 2042 has an October 2021 release date, while we don’t know much of anything regarding this 2021 Call of Duty title.
That said, that will be tough as games are constantly being delayed, having their release days shifted. I’d imagine that Xbox already has few dates in mind but don’t want to alert the competition just yet.
Give a listen to what Phil Spencer says below.

Halo Infinite is still releasing in 2021, and we’ll get a definite release date later. I doubt Xbox and 343i will delay the game into 2022. Not unless some major happens, so we can expect to be playing the game before the year is up. It’s been a while coming at that, seeing how Halo Infinite was originally going to be a launch title for the Xbox Series X|S and then eventually delayed due to complaints regarding the quality of the game – most specifically, the visuals.
Halo Infinite will be playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. I’m counting down the days until I can finally play it.
