It’s been 30 years since the blue blur crash-landed on people’s consoles and since then the hedgehog has graced the silver screen and even competed in a plethora of Olympic games. Now, Sonic and the franchise’s crew of colorful characters are coming to Minecraft in a new DLC pack celebrating the series’ 30th anniversary which is available now.
Wait, what was that blue blur? And who put those square-looking rings there? Hold on to your running shoes: Sonic the Hedgehog has come to Minecraft!
Gather rings, race across acts, and defeat anyone trying to slow you down in this official DLC:

The paid DLC pack contains 24 skins, including franchise favorites like Super Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog, and a brand-new game mode that injects blast processing into the world of Minecraft. Produced by the folks at Gamemode One, a small studio that previously made the official How To Train Your Dragon and Pac-Man DLC for Minecraft, the new Sonic DLC also includes a 3D infinite runner game mode mimicking the style of more recent, less lauded titles in the franchise.
The trailer showcases areas based on iconic levels like Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone as the blocky blur speeds through while collecting rings and pouncing on enemies. The new game mode could already look like the best 3D Sonic experience we’ve had in years.
