Assuming you were one of the lucky few who managed to snag a PlayStation 5, you can now register to partake in an upcoming OS beta for the console. Announced earlier today, PlayStation is calling on current console owners to help them shape upcoming system changes via a new beta program. All you have to do is register here and pray that you get selected.
All you need to take part is a PlayStation 5, a valid PlayStation Network account, and are located in the participating regions; United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Germany. Keep in mind that your PS5 will be subject to receiving upcoming system betas if you do get selected, which may be incomplete, buggy, and, well, a work in progress. But if that doesn’t bother you, then be sure to sign-up.
And on the chance you are selected, do us all a favor and report your findings. A trend I’ve noticed with those who tend to get into these programs is treating this as an Early Access program. Instead of reporting on any issues they’d encounter that could help PlayStation, they sit back and wait to see if someone else does the work.
That said, I don’t know about you, but my PS5 experience hasn’t been the best. I’ve encountered several crashes in-game, which has been frustrating. I don’t know if I could take playing on a beta operating system that could possibly introduce more issues. But that’s just me, don’t let my experience stop you from shaping the future of the PlayStation 5 system.
