Mario Party Superstars, the series’ second title released for the Switch, will take the franchise back to its ’90s glory days on October 29. Catch the trailer here!
Featuring five boards from the N64 titles, including Peach’s Birthday Cake (Mario Party 1) and Space Land (Mario Party 2), and over 100 minigames from the N64 and Gamecube era, Mario Party Superstars is bringing the series’ history back to life. The game features modern visuals and animations, local and online wireless multiplayer, and a new save feature that lets you pick a game up at the beginning of a turn. Players will be able to communicate with one another online via stickers with simple messages.
While Mario Party Superstars does deliver improved visuals, this writer feels obligated to note that the beloved outfits donned by partygoers in Mario Party 2 have seemingly been removed from the title. While nothing can lessen this devastating blow to fans of high fashion, it appears some characters from newer Mario Party titles will be still be playable in Superstars. Rosalina makes an appearance in the game’s trailer, and, while Toad remains the party MC, Toadette has replaced him as the star giver.
