Returnal Could Do With A Save System, Don’t You Think So?

As much as I enjoy Returnal, there’s been a constant worry at the back of my mind when I’m playing the game. If you’ve been playing the game, you’re likely in the same situation as me.

There’s nothing like making decent progress in a game, only to have to either step away from any number of reasons. Or worse, to have the game crash on you. Both are just a few examples of what can cost you hours of blood, sweat, and tears, and more than enough to send you into a frustrated rage. This is what exactly is happening with Returnal, the latest title from House Marque and possibly one of the better reasons to own a PlayStation 5.

I can’t even begin to tell you how I felt as I was hitting 3+ hours in a game, knowing full well that I had to take my butt to bed. All the while wondering if I paused the game, would it be there when I get up. Thankfully, Housemarque understands that the lack of a save system has been a source of frustration and has stated they are listening to the Returnal community.

We hear the community and we love you all. Nothing to announce now, but keep playing and enjoying the challenge as you can!#Returnal #PS5

Just a random thought, but I have an idea of how such a save system could work. Like the save system found in the Dark Souls series, the game would continue to save in the background. And should the game crash or should you need to hit the hay, you could continue where you left off. Of course, if you die or quit, then that game save gets deleted.

That’s a simple idea and one that would stop people from trying to abuse that system. As for if it will happen is still completely up to Housemarque, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Returnal is exclusive to the PlayStation 5, but I’d love if Sony and Housemarque would bring this title to the PC as well. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta get back to playing some more Returnal.
