Sailor scouts, unite! The latest movie in the Sailor Moon reboot, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie, will be heading to Netflix on June 3, 2021. Originally debuting in two parts, Netflix’s showing of the film will be the first time it’s available to see outside of Japan.
Here’s the official synopsis:
The Pretty Guardians of Love and Justice return in an all-new double-feature where beautiful dreams come alive! Join all your favorite Sailor Guardians as they battle the mysterious Dead Moon Circus and awaken dazzling new powers in these films based on the popular “Dream” arc of Naoko Takeuchi’s iconic saga.
The teaser has a cool little intro, with Sailor Moon’s intro text being read in (and please, forgive me if I picked out these languages wrong) German, French, Spanish, Italian, English and Japanese, amongst others. These will likely be the languages the film will be dubbed in, which is pretty cool.
The animation is also stellar, showing off all the senshi’s attacks as well as Chibiusa’s bell and the swords. For those of you who remember with terror the original animation from season 1 of Sailor Moon Crystal, rest assured, we’ve come a long way.
This is part of Netflix’s push to get more anime on its platform, both content it produces and that it buys the streaming rights to.
