Blizzard has announced that they’ll be hosting the Diablo II Resurrected Technical Alpha (PC) this week. Starting on April 8th, 2021 and up to April 12, 2021, a limited amount of players will be the first to experience the game before everyone else. This portion will be a single-player alpha, so you won’t be able to go online with your friends or randoms.
If you’re looking to test your luck, you’ll need to head over to Diablo II: Resurrected website and sign-up. You’ll need a Battle.net account to do so, if you don’t already have one. Only a selected few will be selected, and the selection will start on April 8th, 2021. So don’t get upset if you don’t get picked, but also don’t despair as Blizzard has stated there will be multiple alphas and betas long before the game is officially released. And if you do get picked, be sure to report all busted things that you may happen to encounter.
The alpha will include Diablo II Acts 1 & 2 and will allow players to play with the Amazon, Barbarian, or Sorceress. Just is just a handful of classes that were available in the original game, and they’ll be in the remastered game as well. However, for the alpha your options are limited. For those wondering, while you’ll be able to import your Diablo II game save into Diablo II: Remastered, you won’t be able to so for the alpha.
Diablo 2: Resurrected will see a release on the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. The game will feature enhanced (4K) graphics, surround sound, and remastered cutscenes. Currently, there is no known release date and I’m good with that. I want Blizzard to take all the time in the world to get this remaster done right. Especially after seeing what they did with Warcraft III: Reforged, I really want them to do Diablo II some justice.
