The Outer Worlds quietly received a patch earlier today allowing the game to reach 60 fps on both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The update arrives just in time for the release of the game’s second narrative expansion, Murder on Eridanos.
Twitter user ArmoredFrog was one the first to show off the effects of Patch 1.0.7 on PS5 in a video posted to their feed. If you have played The Outer Worlds previously, you may have been one of the many players (myself being one of them) who experienced frame rate issues on its initial release. It doesn’t take looking at the footage for long to see that the game now runs silky smooth and better than ever.

The patch also comes hot on the heels of many Xbox titles reaping the benefits of the recent FPS Boost. While not necessarily part of that push for higher and better frame rates, the update is another example of many titles receiving improved functionality on not just Xbox but PS5 as well. The increase in fps is slowly becoming the gold standard and it’s about time that consoles have gotten the memo. These types of updates will always be welcome so keeping bringing them on for both older and newer titles.
If you haven’t had the chance to check out The Outer Worlds then now certainly is as good a time as any. With the boost to the frame rate, it’s sure to be the most ideal and optimum way to experience Obsidian’s fantastic sci-fi RPG.
