Nintendo Switch and Bowser’s Fury Dominate Feburary NPD

By Todd BlackMarch 13, 2021
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

The Nintendo Switch has just entered its 5th year of life officially, and we have just found out the NPD numbers for its final month of its 4th year and it’s very much something to celebrate.

First and foremost, the best-selling game in the US was Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. This isn’t too surprising per see as there was only three other new releases that month and Bravely Default II was released on the 26th so thus its numbers weren’t able to be collected. Still, it did beat Persona 5 Strikers and Little Nightmares 2 so it’s still impressive.

In terms of the Nintendo Switch itself, the console was once again the No.1 console in the US, continuing its LONG record of being the No.1 console in the country. A streak that has been going on for over 2 years now.

Furthermore, the Nintendo Switch has now had lifetime dollar sales better than the Nintendo DS, the best-selling handheld that Nintendo has ever made. The console’s unit and dollar sales were also the highest for any hardware platform in a February month since the Wii in February 2009.

So all around, the Nintendo Switch had a banner month and it doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.
