Sasha Calle, best known for her work on The Young and the Restless, is joining the film as its incarnation of Supergirl, Superman’s cousin, for the DCEU’s upcoming film, The Flash.
The Flash‘s director Andy Muschietti posted his video call telling Calle that she was cast in the role:
“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role,” said Muschietti to Deadline. Muschietti was responsible for the two recent IT movies, which debuted a lot of first time actor to the big screen.
Calle joins Ezra Miller as Barry Allen aka The Flash, as well as Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton both as Batman. Ray Fisher was going to reprise his role as Cyborg but he was dropped from the film after going public with allegations of misconduct and unprofessional behavior against Joss Whedon. No plot points are known yet, and the remaining cast is unknown.
The Flash is set to premiere in theaters on November 4, 2022.
