While Blizzard previously announced that mounts would be featured in Diablo IV, the company has released new information about them during the ongoing Blizzcon 2021.
Since the Diablo IV world looks to be the largest of any of the games, mounts will be necessary. As such, mounts will be an important part for players, especially for those who like exploration. These mounts can be collected by completing objectives, solving puzzles in the world, finding hidden locations, or slaying specific creatures.
Blizzard was also keen on not spilling the beans on what sorts of mounts we’ll see and kept referring to them as horses. However, they did show off an image of an undead horse, leading me to believe we’ll see more than just horses in the game.
You’ll be able to customize these mounts as well, with armors, trophies to show off achievements, hoof players, and various other things. They also mentioned it might be possible to change the speed at which the mounts can run.
And as we saw with the Rogue, characters will have abilities linked to the mounts that allow them to perform certain attacks. This feels like an evolution of what the Paladin in Diablo III could do, even though it was restricted to a special move.
Lastly, mounts can also take damage, and in doing so, they’ll force you to dismount. From what was briefly shown, it also looks that this also can interrupt you if you’re performing an attack as well. Forcing you to pay attention, or you may be stopped in your tracks.
I’m excited to see that mounts will be a huge presence in the game and I can’t wait to try them out.
Diablo IV has not yet received a release date and is still in development.
