2020 revealed to us a lot of things. Not the least of which is that when gamers can’t get together physically, they want to have games that they can play with friends online and in good numbers. The two most popular games to prove this was Fall Guys and Among Us. Both of which saw massive surges in popularity throughout the year. In terms of the latter, it came to the Nintendo Switch in December and it’s apparently done really well.
According to Super Data Research, the game was estimated to have sold 3.2 million copies in the month alone. Granted, this is an estimation, but even if it was off by 1 million, that would still mean that it’s sold over 2 million copies on Nintendo Switch. This is very impressive considering the game has been on other platforms for a long time and yet people wanted to get it on Switch.
Among Us continues to be popular in the social mediascape with many famous people playing it with friends on their Twitch Steams, many Youtube channels making dedicated videos about it, and so much more. How long its popularity will last is very up in the air, but given that the game keeps topping the eShop charts on the Switch, we don’t expect its popularity on the system to die out soon.
And if it does, it’s very sus.
