If you’re like me, you’ve been counting down the days until CD Projekt Red’s most anticipated title thus far, Cyberpunk 2077, is finally released. It’s almost here; it’s almost time!
After numerous delays, the game is almost here, but there’s a problem. It seems some retailers have released the game into the wild earlier than they were supposed to, and now some people have been attempting to spoil the game for everyone – which happens all too much. To combat this, CD Projekt Red has gone on the offensive.
So my @CyberpunkGame collectors edition just came from Best Buy… (???)

Yesterday the Polish developer and published released a statement, telling gamers that they need to be on their best behavior. And if they aren’t, then they’re going to be in some deep trouble.
We’re getting closer and closer to the launch and chances are some of you will get your hands on a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 before release day. However difficult this might be for us to achieve, our ambition is for gamers across the world to have the same – spoiler free- experience at the time the releases.
This is why we kindly ask you NOT TO stream/let’s play or release any similar content before December 9th, 12 PM CET / 3 AM PST. We will send MAX-TAC (you know, the guys who take down videos) after everyone who does. After that date, however, we would love if you’d streamed everything like there’s no tomorrow.
It’s 2020, who knows, maybe there isn’t.

If this doesn’t tell you they’re not serious, I don’t know what does. For those who don’t know who MAX-TAC is, the name of the tactical police in Cyberpunk 2077, they don’t exist in the real world… or do they? But make no mistake, there are plenty of organizations that CD Projekt Red can employ to take down posted videos and streams. Twitch is really good at listening to publishers and has stopped streamers looking for a few minutes of exposure in their tracks. While YouTube will quickly handle DMCA’s, so don’t even try it. Of course, someone out there will try it. Heck, they’re probably doing it now.
But let’s be real, don’t be that person who wants to ruin everyone’s experience. If you have an early copy of the game, this includes by mistake, review copy, influencer copies or if one fell off the back of the truck – keep it yourself. You can enjoy the game without uploading it for the world to see or streaming it. Don’t screw over everyone’s chances to be exposed to the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 releases on December 9th, 2020, will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. While the enhanced versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S won’t be available until next year, the game is backward compatible, so you can play your PS4 or Xbox One copies on your next-gen console while you wait. You’ll also snag a few upgrades to the enhanced versions when they’re available.
I still can’t believe that the game is almost here. It’s been 8 years, and I still remember when Cyberpunk 2077 was originally announced. Time sure hasn’t flown by, and it’s been a hard wait. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait when we get our hands on the game next week.
Are you looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077? If so, are you getting it on a gaming console, either current or next-gen, the PC or Google Stadia? Let us know in the comments below.
