For November, PlayStation Plus members will be able to download Middle-Earth: Shadow of War and Hollow Night: Voidheart Edition. So there seems to be a sort of High Fantasy theme to this month’s offerings. It’s good to see that PlayStation 4 users aren’t being left in the dust, as this coming month marks the release of the PlayStation 5. That being said, there is an exclusive offering just for those who are getting the new console. Once the PS5 launches on November 12th, PS Plus members can download Bugsnax. Aside from being the first PS Plus game for the console, it will be available for download through the service all the way until January. Players can still pick up October’s spooky offerings (okay, one spooky offering and one not) until November 2nd.
Shall we get to the games? Okay, okay, but first, another big piece of news. Since this month is seeing the first transition to PS5 offerings, PS5 owners will start seeing a change to how PS Plus works. This comes in the form of the PlayStation Plus Collection, offering players free access to some of the top PS4 games downloadable on PS5. Once the console releases, players can download Bloodborne, God of War, Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition and more through PS Plus. Scroll down for the full list.
Phew, alright, back to the games for this month.
First up we have Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. PlayStation Plus enjoys giving out sequels to games, likely because it figures players have probably check out the first game already and may not have had time for a more recent entry. Luckily, both games in the series are fantastic, and Shadow of War expands upon the Nemesis System of the first game, in which players build personal rivalries with enemy AI. Set in the universe of J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle Earth, the game takes place before the events of The Lord of the Rings as players take on the role of a ranger in the battle against Mordor.
If fantasy and exploration of the 2D variety is more your style, check out Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight. Players descend into an underground world, exploring the events of the kingdom while battling creatures and befriending bugs. Aside from the fast-paced combat, the game features beautiful gothic art and animation styles.
Speaking of bugs, the first ever PlayStation Plus offering for PS5 is Bugsnax. Have you ever wondered what Pokemon would be like if instead of catching monster you caught creatures that were half-bug, half-snack? Neither had we! But Bugsnax leans into its absurdist premise with whimsy and charm, as you play as an investigate journalist brought to the strange island these creatures call home. Young Horses’ quirky game tells a story of bringing the oddball inhabitants of the island back together, while catching Bugsnax in inventive ways.
So those are the games for PS4 and PS5! PlayStation Plus subscribers can download Middle-Earth: Shadow of War and Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition until November 30th, according to the PlayStation Blog. As for Bugsnax on PS5, that will be available until January 4th, 2021. So even if you’re not a day one purchaser, if you plan on getting the PS5 sometimes in the next couple of months, you can get to download this extra game.
